An Italian Tale – A Journey through Language, History & Art

Program Overview

Learning a new language is never just about grammar and vocabulary—it is about discovering a culture, its history, and the stories that have shaped it.

An Italian Tale offers a unique opportunity to study Italian while immersing yourself in the literary and cultural world of Alessandro Manzoni’s masterpiece, The Betrothed (I Promessi Sposi). Designed for absolute beginners (A1 level), the program connects language acquisition with literature, history, and art, turning every lesson into a real-life cultural experience.

The program is built around a two-fold structure:

• Mornings are dedicated to tailored Italian language classes. Students are divided into small groups (three levels) to ensure personalized instruction and fast progress. The curriculum covers essential grammar, practical vocabulary, and conversational skills for everyday situations.

• Afternoons bring the language to life with guided cultural activities. Students explore the landscapes and historical settings that inspired Manzoni’s novel, visiting Milan, Monza, and the shores of Lake Como. By linking literature to place, participants will experience how language and culture are deeply interconnected.

By the end of the program, students will not only improve their Italian but also gain a firsthand understanding of Lombardy’s heritage, experiencing its language, history, and art as part of an authentic Italian journey.
